International Student Ice Fishing Day - January 21, 2013
While there are no classes on Monday, 1/21/13 Outdoor Endeavors will be on the ice teaching winter fishing skills! For those who have never been ice fishing before, this is a great opportunity to learn some skills and participate in a great Minnesota pastime.
Cost is $10 per international student and includes transportation, all ice fishing gear, instruction and good times!
*Participants need to purchase a Minnesota Fishing License in ADVANCE of this trip.
**Any current student can purchase an in-state license, regardless of permanent residence.
Daily licenses can be purchased for $8.50 online at the MNDNR license website.
We will leave SCSU Outdoor Endeavors promptly at 9am, on Monday 1/21/13, and return around 6pm. Participants should come prepared for being outside most of the day and pack water, snacks and anything else needed for personal comfort.
University Communications did a great article about our ice fishing program last January. Taking the Bite Out of Minnesota Winters highlights the experience of international students who participated in the program. Lot's of pictures from this trip on the SCSU Outdoor Endeavors Facebook Page as well.
Register at Outdoor Endeavors, located in the Student Recreation Center in Halenbeck Hall. We are located right across from the climbing wall next to the Massage Studio.
Feel free to contact Joe or Johnny at 308-3772 or by email for more information or current business hours.
PCIA Climbing Wall Instructors Course - February 15-17, 2013
The PCIA Climbing Wall Instructor Course provides instructors and potential instructors with a in depth and standardized understanding of the skills essential to teaching climbing in an indoor setting. It is the first step in a sequential approach to professional climbing instructor development. The course reinforces the importance of teaching technically accurate information and debunks many common climbing myths. The course emphasizes the presentation of sound fundamental skills to climbing gym participants, the formation of risk assessment and risk management skills and basic problem solving skills such as belay transitions and on wall coaching and assist techniques. Participants will be assessed on both their core knowledge and their ability to effectively teach and coach related skills.
Friday 2/15/13 5pm-9pm
Saturday 2/16/13 8am-6pm
Sunday 2/17/13 8am-5pm
$75 per person
Participants must bring your own climbing harness, shoes, belay device and locking carabiner as well as extra locking carabiners, slings, prusik loops and a cordelette. Please wear appropriate clothing and footwear (closed toes and heels).
This is a highly sought training for anyone who frequents a climbing facility or has interest in working in the climbing wall industry. If you are an avid climber, with basic skills, this course will push you forward in your knowledge and understanding of climbing wall teaching, technique and participant management.
SCSU Outdoor Endeavors is pleased to offer this course at a fraction of what you would pay elsewhere for this nationally recognized certification.

Refund Policies:
Cancellations happen. A tremendous amount of time and energy goes into planning Outdoor Endeavors programs. That said, Outdoor Endeavors has established the following cancellation policy:
- If you cancel more than 20 days prior to the trip/clinic you will get a 100% refund
- If you cancel between 20 & 10 days prior to the trip/clinic you will get a 50% refund
- If you cancel less than 10 days prior to the trip/clinic you will not get a refund
