This program is primarily for those interested in teaching music in the elementary and secondary schools. Entering freshmen are encouraged to seek academic advice early regarding specific requirements in order to plan their program efficiently. Entering students with limited background in applied study, piano skills, and/or music theory should elect additional courses to strengthen those skills.

Advantages include being able to continue playing your instrument, receive music scholarships to off-set college expenses, attend a school that is less expensive than most, and make yourself more attractive to professional schools (Medicine, Law, Business, etc.)
Music Minor to complement another field of study. 22-23 semester credits with flexibility in class choices including 5 credits of music electives and 2 semesters of an elective performing organization. Consult a department music advisor for complete details.
