The Recovery Resource Center supports St. Cloud State students who have struggled with substance misuse and addiction and are now committed to sobriety. We offer both a resource center and residential community for students in recovery that are committed to continuing their education.
These programs have proven highly successful; their students have emerged as vibrant campus leaders, typically achieving higher average GPAs than their campus peers. We apply best practice strategies that assist students in developing the behaviors and skills necessary to allow them to succeed academically, personally and professionally while in recovery and offers:
The Recovery Resource Center (RRC), housed in the Center for Health and Wellness Innovation at Eastman Hall, provides a safe space and supportive community for students in recovery or seeking recovery from a substance use disorder. Participation at the RRC is completely voluntary and there is no barrier to entry. Students at any stage of recovery and at any point in their academic journeys are welcome.
Come hang out at RRC during our open hours, come to a support group meeting, attend a sober social event or just get in the loop about volunteer opportunities and upcoming activities. Recovery works and can be part of a genuine college experience.

The St. Cloud State University Recovery Resource Center is focused on providing students with an opportunity for academic excellence in an environment that is supportive of their recovery. In order to ensure this opportunity, the Recovery Resource Center promotes an atmosphere that is concentrated on personal growth, recovery leadership, academic excellence, and community outreach, along with a safe and supportive environment. In addition to the physical space at Eastman Hall, the RRC offers a Recovery Roommate Matching Program for students in recovery wanting to live on campus with other students who are in recovery. Expectations and qualifications can be found in our Housing Addendum.
Available Residence Halls include:
*Stearns, *Stateview, Mitchell, Shoemaker, Case/Hill, Sherburne, Lawrence
*option for sophomores, juniors, and seniors or graduate students
Further information about each hall including costs can be found here: www.stcloudstate.edu/reslife/communitiesThe Recovery Resource Center (RRC) is open to all students, called newcomers. If you’d like membership status you must sign an RRC commitment agreement and complete an online application.
Benefits of membership include extended access to the RRC, scholarship opportunities, sober social events on and off campus, access to coffee/snacks, printing, honor cords, and recovery medallions.
St. Cloud State students wanting to live on campus must first apply for housing at www.stcloudstate.edu/reslife. Students must then apply to become a member of the Recovery Resource Center and indicate they are interested in the on-campus Recovery Roommate Matching program. Students will then set up a time to meet with the Recovery Coordinator to get to know each other and discuss guidelines and expectations. In the weeks leading up to the semester, students will be matched based on preferences and interests.
There are no additional costs to be a member of our Recovery Community. Students in our Residential Community must pay tuition and room and dining fees.
Students Taking Action in Recovery and Service (S.T.A.R.S.) is our student organization. S.T.A.R.S. offers hope, self-advocacy, education, and guides students to make responsible choices that support their academic endeavors and their recovery and wellness plans. This organization is inclusive to all students.
All students interested in recovery, wellness and success are encouraged to join. We meet once a week to discuss service opportunities and advocacy initiatives. In addition, we plan and host many social opportunities for members and the community at large. This is a great opportunity to get involved and be active in recovery.
Students and community members can access the All Recovery and AA meetings virtually. Meetings are password protected to provide privacy.
Please reach out to recovery@stcloudstate.edu for the passwords.
