Perhaps you are beginning to conduct scholarly research about teaching and learning or extending your own disciplinary based education research? St. Cloud State University Center for Excellence in Teaching and Learning is a vital campus resource center primarily focusing on faculty development.

In the center, we:

Offer tangible learning opportunities
Provide resources for conducting scholarship of teaching and learning (SoTL)
Support the integration of new technologies into teaching and learning
Promote teaching practices that increase academic equity and student success
Showcase excellence in teaching and learning
Foster a collaborative and innovative teaching community

CETL's Intentions:

Teach to transform. We prepare faculty to adopt teaching practices that stimulate growth and innovation, going beyond the ordinary.
Pursue Equity. We inspire faculty to develop and use inclusive teaching practices to create equitable learning contexts where students thrive.
Foster Connection. We actively build connections and collaborative learning opportunities within the university to support student success, collegiality, and excellence.

Get to know us

History

In 1989, the Minnesota State University System earned a six-year Bush Foundation grant to support faculty development and improve undergraduate student learning. The grant stipulated that each university establish a center for teaching and learning. In 1995, the Faculty Association approved the establishment of a center and Academic Affairs agreed to fund basic operating expenses and a faculty director.

Awards and Grants

CETL works hard to recognize the great work faculty do in and outside of the classroom. Faculty can apply to become a Miller Scholar, a prestigious grant funded by a gift from James W. and Marion Miller, or nominate a colleague for the Minnesota State Board of Trustees Excellence in Teaching Award.
