The 55th Winter Institute
February 23 & 24, 2017
2016 Theme - Community Wellness
Looking at the Greater St. Cloud Community Pillars, our theme of “Community Wellness” covers many areas, including; economy, housing, safety, education, wellness, infrastructure, arts, community engagement and a green environment. How can we help create and contribute to a community to help it prosper and become more vibrant? How can we work, live and enjoy life in Central Minnesota?
The Winter Institute is an annual summit hosted by the Department of Economics, School of Public Affairs, St. Cloud State University. Minnesota is famous for its winter season and every year we use this opportunity to gather the best minds in the region and the country to share their thoughts and ideas on various economics issues with audience from Minnesota and the Midwest. The Winter Institute is important forum for the members of the community to generate ideas that can foster growth and development in greater St. Cloud area, central Minnesota, and beyond.
Many prominent economists and policy makers, for examples, Alfred Nobel Memorial Prize Laureate Milton Friedman and Federal Reserve Chairman Benjamin Bernanke, have been our keynote speakers at the Winter Institute in the past 50 years.
