Horizon Conference

Hosted by the St. Cloud State's Society of Women Engineers

Girls ranging from junior high to high school age participated in workshops, speakers, learning and, yes, lunch. This is an event geared toward young females interested in science and math. The workshops provided the girls with hands-on activities in various fields, ranging from 3-D technology to robotics where university professors guided the girls during their activities.

Math Contest

Each spring since 1968, the departments of Mathematics & Statistics and Computer Science & Information Technology have hosted a Mathematics Contest for students in grades 7-12.  Students from across Central Minnesota compete for individual and team awards at each grade level.

Science Express

Science Express is St. Cloud State University's mobile science lab. Our 53-foot trailer accommodates up to 36 students for hands-on laboratory experiences with technology such as oscilloscopes and pipettors. We choose equipment and design experiments that help educators enhance the science curriculum and meet state science standards for third- through sixth-graders from education programs in St. Cloud's District 742, Sartell-St. Stephen, Sauk Rapids-Rice and area parochial and private schools.

Science Fair

Students in grades 6-12, across Minnesota, come together to compete with one another. Students can either enter with an exhibit project and/or present their research paper.

Science Rocks

Science Rocks is a conference designed to introduce 5th and 6th grade students to a variety of science and natural elements through presentations and hands-on learning. Students from local elementary and middle schools come to SCSU to engage in several interactive laboratory experiences throughout the day.

JUMPSTART

JUMPSTART is a training conference for students and mentors involved in FIRST Robotics programs. Students who attend receive training from dozens of industry professionals in designing, building, wiring and programming robots, including some hands-on training opportunities. The seminars also include practical training in marketing and fundraising for FIRST teams.  An engineering fair and vendor fair are also present at the event.
