Hani Jacobson ’19

Community Health Specialist, CentraCare's Feeling Good MN

B.S., Nursing, 2019

After moving to the United States, Hani Jacobson became a registered nurse and has since been an advocate for immigrants and families of color, identifying barriers to medical care and working to eliminate them.

When the pandemic began to engulf the country, she knew who could be the most at risk. She joined the Somali Community COVID-19 Task Force, making appearances on Somali radio, driving to different businesses to translate safety protocols, and walking door-to-door, handing out masks and informing people of risks.

She was honored by the Minnesota Council of Nonprofits and the McKnight Foundation with one of its four 2020 Virginia McKnight Binger Unsung Hero Awards.

"St. Cloud State has prepared me to use my skills to advocate for others. My time at SCSU has played an important role in my leadership development and community engagement. I had the opportunity to work with and be inspired by local health leaders to promote health and wellness in central Minnesota during the pandemic." - Hani Jacobson ’19
