Bret Hedican ’20

Analyst, San Jose Sharks and NBC Sports Network

B.E.S., Liberal Studies, 2020

Prior to starting as an analyst for the San Jose Sharks and NBC Sports Network, Bret Hedican played for 17 years in the NHL — totaling 1,039 career NHL games and 294 points along with winning a Stanley Cup championship with the 2006 Carolina Hurricanes. He is also a two-time Olympian.

Having attended St. Cloud State while playing hockey for the Huskies for three seasons before focusing on his professional career, Hedican returned to finish his degree amid the COVID-19 pandemic.

"St. Cloud State University not only helped provide me with an opportunity to become a student athlete, it also gave me the tools to have life success. The culture that was created within my time when I was a student athlete still lives on today, which continues to produce great hockey players but even better men. The growth mindset of the school not only helped me with becoming a better student and athlete, but also someone that became a better person ready to take on what was next in my life." - Bret Hedican ’20
