Ulises Ayala ’09

Personnel Security Section Chief, United States Department of Agriculture
Deputy Chief of Joint Intelligence Support Element, Coalition Joint Task Force

B.A., Spanish and Military Science, 2009

Ulises Ayala's Notable Alumni nomination form reads: "I met Ulises in the community as we were both working to help our community know, love and stand up for our immigrants and refugee neighbors. Ulises is so willing to share his story of pain and persistence with anyone, no matter how hard they work to misunderstand. He went from a child immigrating from Mexico to the U.S. to graduating high school, serving our country for years in the National Guard at home and abroad, and in the meantime starting a beautiful family and obtaining multiple degrees. He is the epitome of someone who won't give up and who sees his life as not only his own; he knows how to have an impact on his community and beyond through service and sustainable change."

"Success happens when all the tools are provided; it is up to us to use them properly. Take advantage of every opportunity, if you blink you might miss one.

Life as with learning is not a race, it is a slow jog where every step is a learning opportunity. Do not let the past dictate what the future will bring. Make the future become the present that generations will look forward to." - Ulises Ayala ’09
