Sports Management M.S.

The Sport Management M.S. provides a strong foundation in athletic administration, sport organizational aspects and Athletic Coaching fundamentals from the youth through college and professional levels. Topics such as sport analytics, marketing, facilities, finance, business, management and communication are studied followed with coursework designed for the unique world of sports. Our graduate level programs prepare students for careers in Sport Administration, Sport Management, Athletic/Sport Coaching or Sport and Fitness-related professions.

Select from one of two paths to complete in as few as three terms: Traditional Sports Management degree or a Sports Management concentration in Athletic Coaching.

Coaching Concentration

Individuals interested in coaching gain an increased awareness of the multiple aspects of their profession and will be prepared to advance their coaching careers.

Find opportunities to fine tune your coaching skills in a required full-time coaching internship that transforms your academic training into practice while increasing your professional networks.

In addition to the Athletic Coaching Internship to advance an Athletic Coaching Career, the following Specific Athletic Coaching Courses are offered: 

  • Sports Analytics
  • Sport Psychology
  • Sport and Exercise Nutrition
  • Strength and Conditioning for Sport Performance
  • Sports Marketing, Sports Communications

Application Details

The Sports Management and Sports Management Coaching Concentration begins a new cohort each fall semester.

Priority Deadlines

The priority deadline for applications is January 15 with an additional deadline of May 15. Applications are accepted on a rolling basis through August 1.  

Applications are reviewed upon the completion and submission of all application materials. Students applying for graduate assistantships and international students are strongly encouraged to apply by the January 15 deadline. Applications received after May 15 will be considered on a space-available basis. 

Application

When applying for a master's program, the School of Graduate Studies serves as a liaison between the applicant and the master's program. Application materials are completed online and processed by the School of Graduate Studies.

Once all application materials are received and reviewed, Graduate Studies will forward materials to the program faculty for review. Program faculty may request a follow up session or informal interview. Thereafter, an admission recommendation will be forwarded to Graduate Studies with the final decision submitted by the Dean of Graduate Education and you will be notified within 2-3 business days.

  • Upload high quality scans (.jpeg or photos not accepted) of your full academic record to the Academic History section, including all transcripts, grade sheets, individual and consolidated mark sheets, degree completion certificates
  • English proficiency

Admission Requirements

For admission consideration, applicants must meet minimum Graduate Studies admission requirements, including, but not limited to: 

  • Completed bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution
  • 2.75 Undergraduate GPA
  • 3.0 GPA if graduate-level courses have been completed
  • GRE is NOT required

Non-Degree Student
