Dr. Amanda R. Hemmesch
Amanda R. Hemmesch, Ph.D. is a Professor of Psychology at St. Cloud State University.
She completed her doctorate in social-developmental psychology at Brandeis University. Before coming to St. Cloud State, Dr. Hemmesch worked as a project director for an epidemiology research lab at the Boston University School of Public Health and taught courses at South Central College.
Her research focuses on improving quality of life for individuals with chronic conditions. She is interested in how health and psychosocial factors, especially social relationships, influence development and well-being across the lifespan.
She is currently examining social relationships and stigma for individuals with facial movement disorders, and designing an interdisciplinary cognitive wellness program for older adults. Dr. Hemmesch joined the SCSU Survey to further develop her expertise with public opinion polling and representative sampling.
Her first project with the SCSU Survey looked at Minnesotans’ familiarity with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) for the ADA’s 25th anniversary.
