Artist Statement

My artwork is an advertisement for a world which does not exist. It pitches the idea of complete happiness and fulfillment, while also presenting some sort of threat, such as existential ideas or feeling as though one is never good enough to impress their peers. Inspiration for my work often comes from television advertisements, and the sinister nature in which they can manipulate viewers.

The symbols and imagery in my paintings invoke ideas regarding isolation, social contracts and the different egos in which people put forth. Exploring the relationship between human beings and the world is at the forefront of my mind while I am painting. As a result, listening to what viewers have to say about my work often kick starts the beginning process for the next piece
