Student Opportunities

Our students' education extends beyond the traditional classroom.
- Students learn from award-winning faculty and visiting artists and scholars.
- Department galleries give students the ability to showcase their work and learn from exhibiting artists.
- Organizations complement what students are learning in the classroom.
- A number of scholarships are available to art students.
- Utilize the art resources in the University Library.
Internships
BFA Graphic Design majors must complete a six-credit internship during their final year. Internships offer real-world experience that may even turn into your next job. Former students have worked as interns in St. Cloud, the Twin Cities, as well as New York, California, London, Dublin, and Australia.
Some students complete 3 internship credits on campus, and then go off-campus to work in a design studio or agency. This type of work is a stepping-stone towards a deeper understanding of the profession.
BFA Studio Art majors may elect to complete a three-credit internship in place of an upper-division studio class.
Graphic Design operates a LinkedIn group that can help with networking and connecting with alumni.
Art Studen Union
Art Student Union (ASU) is an art student-run organization dedicated to enlivening campus art life. Students engage in a wide range of activities including: discussions about contemporary art and art making, critiques, art events, trips to museums and galleries, artist’s lectures and movies.
