Artist Statement

I’m 29 years old international student from Saint-Petersburg, Russia. This is my third semester in Saint Cloud State University and my major is Graphic Design. I’ve always created something as far as I remember, but finally I’ve decided to become a professional. Art is a gift and, as any gift it should go from heart, have meaning and bring joy to both: audience and artist.

My first work is a clay-motion cartoon. It is in Russian language and tells a story of creation of a radio station “Melodia” back in 1997. My mother used to work there when I was a kid. My main field of interest is animation, so I wanted to show something that I can do in it.

The second work I did here is a charcoal drawing of Saint-Petersburg. It represents one of the main landmarks of my city: Dvortsoviy bridge over the river Neva and Peter and Paul Fortress. So, I did it as a reminder of my favorite city which I miss a lot.
