Accelerated Online Programs
For prospective students considering online college programs, cost may be a concern. One common misconception is that financial aid for online degree programs is limited compared with aid for in-person programs. Students in online programs can take advantage of federal, state, and institutional financial aid.

Financial Aid Information
Pell Grant Eligibility
Pell Grant Eligibility
For Pell Grant eligibility, students must enroll in ALL courses by the Add/Drop date of each term. Students who enroll in any courses after the Add/Drop date will not be eligible to receive the Pell Grant for that course.
Pell grant payments are based on the number of credits hours for which a student is enrolled in as of the Add/Drop date for that term. The Add/Drop date locks in the number of credit hours a student is enrolled in. Prior to this date students can add or drop courses without any financial consequences. But after this date, their enrollment is locked. Federal regulations state students can only be paid Pell Grant funding for the courses they are enrolled in at the Add/Drop date.
B Session Admits
If you are admitted after the Add/Drop dates or for the B Session of any Fall/Spring/Summer term, you will not be eligible for the Pell Grant during that Session. This is due to your enrollment being locked in at zero credits at the term's Add/Drop date.
Federal Direct Loan Eligibility
Federal Direct Loan Eligibility
Undergraduate Student Federal Loans
Students who plan to accept loans to help finance their education must be actively enrolled in 6 credits or more to receive them. If you plan to take 3 credits in the A Session and 3 credits in the B Session, all loans must be accepted prior to the end date of the A Session. Once a student enters the B Session with ONLY 3 credits, they are no longer eligible for the Federal Direct Loan.
Graduate Student Federal Loans
Graduate students enrolled in an accelerated online program only need to be enrolled in 3 credits to be eligibility for Federal Direct Loans. 3 credits is half-time enrollment for graduate programs.
Scholarship Opportunities
Scholarship Opportunities
Students enrolled in the St. Cloud State University Accelerated Online Programs are not eligible to receive institutional scholarships. Students are eligible to apply for and receive Foundation-sponsored scholarships in Huskies Scholarships.
We would encourage you to continue to seek scholarships outside the institution. FastWeb is a free scholarship search platform that connects students to college scholarships. Their goal is to help you find scholarships to make college more affordable.
If you switched from a traditional undergraduate program to an accelerated online program you will lose any institutional scholarships you have been offered.
