Mental Heath
Mental health is important. We know that mental health is closely tied to physical health. In fact, research suggests 70% of appointments in a primary care setting are related to mental health. Our medical staff works with Counseling and Psychological Services (CAPS) as an integrated team to provide cost effective, streamlined mental health and medical services. We want to take care of the health and wellbeing of our students efficiently and effectively.
Physical concerns that can be related to mental health:
- Sleep troubles
- Abdominal pains
- Acne
Physical concerns that can impact mental health:
- Condition requiring dramatic change in lifestyle, even temporarily
- Adjusting to a new or surprising diagnosis
- Chronic pain conditions
- Concussion or TBI
We work to bring our services to the student, not the other way around. When possible, the students’ mental health needs can begin to be addressed within that same visit. Most often, the SCSU Medical Clinic has same day or next day appointments available.
