The Veterans Resource Center in 100 Administrative Services is a one-stop shop for information and resources pertaining to your military benefits, including referrals to outside veteran agencies, and provides an ideal space for networking and connecting with other military affiliated students on campus. We welcome to visit in person or contact one of our support networks below.

- MDVA Regional Coordinator: Eligibility and application processes for all education benefits
- Financial Aid: Specialized assistance with financial aid, including a special condition due to no longer being employed full time with the military or having an income reduction from the previous year

Mission: To serve the unique higher education needs of students who are Veterans, military members or family members.
Process: The Minnesota Legislature passed a number of initiatives addressing the unique and often complex needs of students who are Veterans. To assist Minnesota’s colleges and universities fulfill these new requirements, the Minnesota Department of Veterans Affairs established the Higher Education Veterans Programs. This program consists of a director and regional coordinators located throughout the state. Specifically, the coordinators work with colleges to enhance or develop:
- "Veterans friendly” policies and procedures
- On-campus Veterans Resource Centers
- Coordinated Campus and Community Services and information
- Serve as a partner with the military and other community providers with the “Beyond the Yellow Ribbon” Reintegration activities of the MNARNG.
- Provide Higher Education Information and Support: “Providing in-person and electronic higher education advising, in-person referral, related service and education benefit information to Veterans, military members, and their families.”

Federal Tuition Assistance (FTA) Payments

For current service members wanting to utilize Federal Tuition Assistance within Army IgniED, complete the following steps to use FTA. The FTA exception to policy used previously has ended and you will need to request FTA through Army IgnitED.
- E-mail veterans@stcloudstate.edu with your full name, student ID, name of courses you want to use FTA, and semester you intend to use federal tuition assistance.
- Create an account on Army Ignited, which will include a working CAC card and username/password.
- Once you have created your account on Army IgnitED, choose your degree/institution.
- Request Tuition Assistance on Army IgnitED.
Deadline to apply: Seven (7) days prior to start of classes.
Apply for FTA early. Doing so will results in a quicker approval and the amount may be applied to your bill prior to financial aid disbursements. Apply up to 60 days prior to the class start date.

The Assistant Director of Financial aid can assist with questions regarding any of the following topics:
- Applying for financial aid
- Special conditions for students who are no longer employed full time or have an income reduction from the previous year
- Minnesota GI Bill® (work in conjunction with Kathie Goenner on the program)
- Financial aid warning, suspension and appeals
- Financial aid maximum time frame for receiving financial aid and transfer military credits
