Financing your Education
Navigating Your Educational Investment
St. Cloud State offers an excellent education at a price that is considerably lower than comparable private and public institutions. A wide range of financial aid options are available to help offset the cost of tuition.
No matter what your situation, our staff will work with you.
Our commitment to helping you further your education extends to our financial-aid program. Every year we use a wide variety of scholarships, grants and loans to award more than $90 million in need-based aid. That means approximately 86% of our students get some form of financial assistance every year.

Financial Assistance Opportunities
SCSU offers a variety of scholarship opportunities to our students including:
- First-Year Student Scholarships
Students are automatically considered for these merit-based awards. - Cultural Diversity Scholarships
New students who contribute to the cultural diversity at St. Cloud State will be automatically considered for these awards. - Transfer Student Scholarships
We provide awards to students transferring to St. Cloud State who possess strong academic credentials. - Be a Husky Rate
This rate will be awarded to all out-of-state new students who do not otherwise qualify for in-state or reciprocity tuition. Recipients pay the equivalent of in-state tuition.
We encourage all students to apply for state and federal grants through the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). If students need additional assistance, we offer guidance on applying for private loans, but not without ensuring full comprehension of the rights and responsibilities of student borrowers. No matter how much aid our students may need, we offer loan entrance and exit counseling to help them manage their student loans.
