Preparing for Your Day
To make the most out of your Huskies Advising and Registration experience, be sure to complete the following:
Activate Your StarID
Your StarID and password are required to sign up for Huskies Advising and Registration. It will also be used to log in to St. Cloud State campus computers and technology services when registering for classes. If you haven't activated your StarID, you can do so online using your Tech ID or the email address you used to submit your application to St. Cloud State.
If you have already activated your StarID, you should receive it in an email two weeks before your Huskies Advising and Registration Day. If you can't remember your StarID or need to reset your password, assistance is available online.
Pre-Advising and Registration Workshop
It is important that you take care of a few things before your on-campus Advising and Registration day. Failure to do so may lead to an inability to meet with your advisor and get your schedule when you arrive on campus. You must complete a short, online pre-event workshop that outlines important information you need for your advising appointment. You will get an email approximately two weeks before your scheduled day with instructions how to login and complete the workshop.
Placement Testing
Most students need to complete pre-placement test(s) to determine eligibility for certain classes. We offer the English and Math placement tests, and specific tests required are based on the major provided at the time of application. Failure to complete placement testing prior to your Advising and Registration day may lead to an inability to meet with your advisor and get your schedule. Visit the Placement Testing website for more information or for assistance scheduling your placement test.
Choose Your First-Year Experience
All new students are encouraged to choose a first-year experience to enrich their academic experience. You will be emailed prior to your Advising and Registration Day to tell us more about your interests. First-year experiences include:
College-Level Transcripts
If you have completed college-level courses, compile a list of these courses completed, including PSEO or other college courses offered at your high school, and bring them with you to your day.
For college transfer students, make sure you have your college transcripts from the college or university you are transferring from to your day. This will help smooth the process of registering for classes when meeting with your adviser.
Complete Your FAFSA
We encourage all students to apply for federal and state financial aid.
Financial aid includes grants, work study, scholarships and loans, and is available to all income levels. Applying for financial aid is free when you use the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). St. Cloud State's federal school code is 002377.
We recommend that you apply for financial aid each year in early October.
Transferring to St. Cloud State from another school? Remember to ask your previous school to cancel any pending financial aid for the term you are transferring to St. Cloud State.
Immunization Form
If you did not graduate from a Minnesota high school, or if you graduated from a high school prior to 1997, you are required to fill out an immunization form prior to registering for courses.
Please visit Medical Clinic Immunization for instructions and a link to the online immunization form. If you have questions about this requirement, please contact the Medical Clinic at (320) 308-3191.
Student Accessibility Services
If you or a guest require accommodations at your Advising and Registration Day, it is important you contact Student Accessibility Services at least two weeks prior to the event. Without timely notice, we cannot guarantee accommodations can be met.
This is for requesting accommodations at your Advising and Registration Day only.
