Alnwick Workshop

The College of Liberal Arts and Center for International Studies host a workshop in Alnwick each year to provide faculty and staff an opportunity to visit and explore the castle and nearby community.

Why Attend the Workshop?

  • To learn about St. Cloud State @ Alnwick and experience our castle campus first hand 
  • To better understand how to teach and build a program at Alnwick Castle
  • To see how you can help recruit students to experience Alnwick
  • Learn about the community locations commonly used in academic programming in Alnwick and greater Northumbria
  • An opportunity to network with faculty, staff, and other stakeholders in the United Kingdom and across the MN state system and other partner institutions.

July 2025 Schedule

Schedule as of 12/16/2024

Arrival: Monday, July 7

  • Arrive at the castle between 9 a.m. and 6 p.m.

Day 1: Tuesday, July 8

  • Overview of St. Cloud State @ Alnwick programs structure and history 
  • Explore Alnwick (castle, gardens, town)       

Day 2: Wednesday, July 9

  • Learn how to build a program and incorporate Alnwick into your work back in the U.S.
  • Costal castle excursion

Day 3: Thursday, July 10

  • Reflect on program ideas
  • Free afternoon

Day 4: Friday, July 11

  • Day trip to Edinburgh
  • Program concludes

Details:

  • Program fee: $550 per person including continental breakfast and accommodations in the castle
  • Additional guest(s): $350
  • Travel authorization form required for SCSU attendees
  • Professional development money is authorized with supervisor approval
  • Current passport
  • Travel to and from the castle is up to the individual participant and not included in program fee.
  • Confirm Participation by March 1, 2025
