Work at the Career Center
The Career Center hires many undergraduate and graduate students. Below are descriptions of the positions we currently have filled and may have a need to hire for in the future. Open positions are posted in Handshake and applications are submitted through that platform.
Career Development & Outreach Graduate Assistantship: The focus of this graduate assistantship is outreach to the University community through classroom presentations, tabling at events and working at career fairs. This graduate assistant will also do 1-1 appointments, may help with data collection and analysis, filling in at the Career Center front desk, and other projects as assigned.
Employment Services & Outreach Graduate Assistantship: This graduate assistant position is designed to help the Career Center connect SCSU students and alumni with employment partners and career opportunities. Successful candidates must demonstrate excellent communication skills, a strong ability for teamwork, great attention to detail and ability to use technology such as the Handshake recruitment system. This graduate assistant will promote and facilitate Career Center events, including Walk In Wednesday. They may also help with data collection and analysis, and help with the approval of employer accounts in Handshake. Additional duties as assigned such as filling in at the Career Center front desk, and other projects.
Graduate Internship: This graduate career internship position is designed to help students gain knowledge and skills in the field of career services. Successful candidates must demonstrate a high degree of teamwork, innovation, and a passion for helping students. These interns provide 1-1 career counseling services to SCSU students and recent alumni. Our interns collaboratively develop, organize and present career-related workshops across campus and work on other projects as assigned.
Social Media Internship/Coordinator: This position works with the Career Center marketing team. They assist in the implementation and continual development of social media strategies. This position requires a creative individual who can create and curate compelling content for social media.
Undergraduate Peer Career Advisor: This position works at the Career Center front desk. They help students with resume writing, job searching and other career-related activities. Peer Career Advisors also participate in events and outreach efforts on campus.
