Scholarships

We award chemistry scholarships once a year based on a student's scholarship and progress toward completion of the major or minor. Awards are a maximum of $2,000 per student per baccalaureate degree.

There are four unique chemistry scholarships available to majors and minors:

• Chemistry Scholarship
  The Chemistry Scholarship is a one-semester that varies in amount and may be received more than once.
• David Sorensen Scholarship
  The David Sorensen Scholarship is a $800 scholarship ($400 for fall and $400 for spring semester) for outstanding performance during the first two years of chemistry at SCSU and may be received only once.
• John Laakso Scholarship
  The John Laakso Scholarship is a $1,000 scholarship ($500 for fall semester and $500 for spring semester) for our top senior-level student and may be received only once.
• Chemistry Transfer Student Scholarship
  The Chemistry Transfer Student Scholarsip is a $1,000 scholarship for new entering transfer students and may be received more than once.

Application are accepted from late January to mid March.

Step 1: Click the “sign in” button and login. Complete the general application.

Step 2: Click on “opportunities” and select “ours”.

Step 3: Type “chemistry” in the search box to show the scholarships available. Be sure to apply to all scholarships for which you qualify.

Step 4: You will be required to upload your degree audit as a PDF (DARS available through eServices) as supplemental information for each scholarship.
