Preparing the IT Professionals of Today and Tomorrow

The Information Assurance graduate program is a comprehensive, interdisciplinary program that prepares students to be an expert in information assurance, building management and technical skillsets. Students are equipped with information security technologies and knowledge to support and protect the nation's information infrastructure and conduct advanced research. 

Candidates for this program need to have a strong background in math and science and a baccalaureate degree in information systems, computer science, computer engineering, computer networking, telecommunication or related programs is preferred.

Fully-qualified applicants will have one year of programming experience and have taken courses that covers database modeling, network structure/architecture, operating systems theory, discrete structures and statistics

  • Carefully curated program: Program is designed using the Association for Computing and Machinery Model Curriculum and Guidelines and the National Security Agency Guidelines and Requirements.
  • NCAE-C and DHS recognized: Designated as a National Center of Academic Excellence in Information Assurance/Cybersecurity by the National Security Agency and the Department of Homeland Security. 
  • Time and money savings: Program is also offered as a five-year undergraduate/graduate combined program.
  • Generous financial support: Students may apply for the ​​Scholarship for Service ​scholarship from the National Science Foundation that includes support for tuition, books and professional development opportunities. Scholarship programs through the Department of Defense and Cyber Scholarship Program are also available. 
  • Support for new learners: Pre-requisite courses are available for eligible candidate who do not possess a strong background in computing. 

The Information Assurance program provided me with a comprehensive understanding of the field and equipped me with the skills necessary to excel in my career. I highly recommend this program to anyone interested in pursuing a career in information assurance, especially cyber security.

The Information Systems Department in the Herberger Business School offers a Bachelor of Science in Information Systems degree program in addition to a five-year track for eligible high achieving undergraduate students resulting in both an Information Systems Bachelor of Science and Master of Science Information Assurance degrees.
