Teen Crash Prevention Skills
We work to reduce the number and severity of crashes involving Teen drivers ages 16-20 because traffic crashes are a leading cause of fatalities and serious injuries for young drivers.
You will learn to be prepared for a variety of situations on the road and appropriate actions and reactions.
Student requirements
You must have a valid driver's license. You must have sufficient driving/behind the wheel experience to operate a motor vehicle independently.
After a brief classroom presentation, students will use our vehicles and be coached and challenged on handling driving maneuvers such as:
- Off-road recovery
- Collision avoidance
- Hazard recognition
- Inattentive driving
- Seatbelt use
- Effective and controlled braking
- Reaction time limitations
- Proper speed selection
- Skid control in a controlled environment
Online Requirements
Upon completion of both the online and the in-person training, a certificate will be issued to the student.
Parent/Guardian Recommendations
It is recommended that the parent/guardian watch the online required portion with the student as the course presents useful information and tips for both the student and the parent/guardian.
Upon arriving at our range for the in-person portion of the course, parents/guardians are more than welcome to stay and observe their teen driver learning and practicing. This can encourage further discussion at home and open potential opportunities to connect together around safe driving practices.
