Funding Programs 

St. Cloud State University has a number of internal grant competitions aimed to support faculty and staff scholars and provide opportunities to enhance the University’s research portfolio, scholarly output, and prepare individuals to pursue external funding.

Faculty Improvement: Scholarly Project

Supports a defined scholarly project with goals and outcomes aligning with the faculty member’s professional development goals.

Faculty Improvement: Professional Development

Supports participation in non-credit workshops/courses that prepare faculty for current or new teaching assignments and/or aligns with faculty member’s professional development plan.

Participation in a qualifying interactive, hands-on training (non-credit workshop/courses only) October and March
Faculty Improvement: Adjunct Professional Development

Supports professional development in the discipline in which the applicant teaches for St. Cloud State University. 

Participation in a qualifying professional development activity  October and March
Midcareer Grant

Supports a defined research and scholarly projects that will result in peer-reviewed dissemination OR the submission of a proposal for external funding.

External grant proposal OR peer-reviewed publication, within 12 months of project completion October
Proposal Enhancement Grant

Supports a defined preliminary research or scholarly project to enhance the expertise needed to be successful with a submission of a proposal of $25,000 or more to an external funding agency.

Saigo Excellence Funds

Support for faculty and staff with scholarly activities including professional presentations, performances and exhibitions, research and creative endeavors, and publications.

Hellervik Prize

Supports a defined research or scholarly projects which advances knowledge on issues of importance to students, college/school, university, and society. 

Scholarly product (as defined within the proposal) and campus presentation, within 12 months of project completion   January
Early Career Grant

Supports a defined research and scholarly projects that will result in peer-reviewed dissemination OR the submission of a proposal for external funding.
