Core Objectives

Leading the way

The Minnesota Institute of Technology at St. Cloud State University (TMIT@SCSU) demonstrates the university's commitment to its role as a steward of place. Given our institutional mission, and our intellectual and practical offerings as an institution of higher education, St. Cloud State works intentionally to create mutually beneficial relationships with external members of the community, groups, and organizations. TMIT@SCSU brings together our faculty and students through external partnerships to create new knowledge and solutions for problems or challenges in communities, schools, healthcare facilities, nonprofits, and industries. It is a catalyst to ensure our own institutional excellence, provide a transformative learning experience for our students, and continue to serve our region, state, and beyond.

University Excellence

Activities to continuously expand and strengthen our institutional focus on TMIT@SCSU will:

  • Prioritize Diversity, Equity and Inclusiveness in all facets of the Institute’s objectives and initiatives
  • Support the implementation and transdisciplinary integration of technology as a programmatic focus across the institution
  • Promote the adoption of technology-driven solutions and best practices in teaching and learning
  • Provide an incubating environment for innovative approaches, practices, initiatives that support the mission and vision of the institute, especially in applied and experiential learning
  • Identify and promote all spaces within the University that share ISELF philosophy and synergize their collective impacts across the University and with our partners
  • Set standards and develop recommendations of best practices for programs associated with TMIT@SCSU

Transformational Education

  • Remain focused on the holistic development of students through innovative learning experiences and individualized student support and with increasing opportunities for active engagement across a broader portfolio of industry, business and nonprofit organizations
  • Support commitment to implementation and assessment of Our Husky Compact, especially it’s focus to integrate existing and evolving technology experiences for students

Community, Societal and Economic Development

Continue to emphasize the importance of industry and community partnerships as St. Cloud State expands it’s commitment to a more comprehensive vision of serving the region, the state, and beyond as a steward of place. This includes, but is not limited to:

  • Offering an expanded portfolio of academic programs that are responsive to the needs of our community and partners
  • Sharing the socioeconomic enrichment of the community as a result of our partnerships and projects of user-inspired research
  • Strengthening community outreach through community programming, service, and consultation
  • Intentionally connecting our diverse student population with partners to create new opportunities and career pathways
  • Providing a holistic approach focused on preparing our graduates for successful careers and citizenship
