The Work of Academic Affairs
Under the leadership of the Provost, Academic Affairs is committed to the quality, development, coordination, and promotion of all academic programs and related activities. To ensure the continued pursuit of excellence, the office collaborates with many individuals, committees, and units that assist the Provost in supervising all academic programs and support functions, strategic initiatives, global programs, and faculty and student affairs.
The Role of the Provost
The Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs is the Chief Academic Officer of the university and is responsible for advancing the academic and scholarly life of the campus.
Working collaboratively with the deans, faculty, and staff, the provost:
- develops and administers academic policies
- helps establish academic priorities
- oversees the curriculum
- encourages faculty and student research
- supervises academic support and enrollment services
- assures compliance with system, state, regional, and federal academic and educational policies
The Provost is dedicated to sustaining a vibrant intellectual community, composed of the finest faculty and students, that values active and applied learning, community engagement, sustainability, and global and cultural understanding.
