How can the degree audit help me explore other majors and show me how a change might affect my course work?
What should I do if there is an error on my degree audit ?
What will an audit not do?
- An audit is not a replacement for an advisor. While an audit is an advising tool, it is strongly encouraged to meet with an advisor to plan out needed courses.
- An audit does not replace the registration process, but will tell the student what is needed to complete.
- An audit doesn't replace other University records such as:the University catalog, programs policies, or student transcripts.
Should I still consult with my advisor?
ABSOLUTELY. It is very important for you to consult your advisor when reading your audit. Your advisor can help you interpret the audit and give you other information related to your program of study and graduation plan.
What should I do if I need changes made to my degree audit?
Please work with your advisor to confirm any audit changes and to learn how to submit these updates.
Who is my advisor?
You can locate your advisor information through Advisor Lookup or view your degree audit. Should you choose to request a new advisor, please work with Advising and Student Transitions.
When will my new major appear on my degree audit?
Your audit will automatically update when your new major has been approved by the Academic Department and processed by Records and Registration.
Some of my transfer credits are not showing on my interactive degree audit; what should I do?
Make sure that your most recent transcript has been sent from your previous institution(s) and received by SCSU. Depending upon the time of the year, the evaluation process could take 10 business days. Any changes posted to your academic record will also update on your degree audit.
What if transfer courses are showing but are not being assigned to major requirements?
When transfer courses are not appearing as you have hoped, it is likely that they have not been evaluated to match a specific course in your major. Contact your major advisor and review the Transfer Review Process for options.
Why does my audit show the wrong number of credit hours?
The audit may show a different number of total credit hours than the SCSU academic record. There are a couple of reasons this could happen, however one of the most common is that the audit counts 100+ level course credits towards the degree while the SCSU transcript accounts for all course credits taken (even if the course is below the 100 level).
