Students must submit a graduation form one semester before their expected graduation date. Forms should be submitted around the time of registration for the final semester. Each form is reviewed and processed by Graduation Evaluators. A degree will not be awarded without a graduation form on file.
If a graduation form has been submitted but needs to be change to a future term, or another major/minor is being added to an existing SCSU degree, email the Office of Records and Registration.
Degree Completion Checklist
We recommend all undergraduate students review the graduation checklist to ensure all necessary steps have been completed in order to have your degree awarded and receive your diploma.
Diplomas will be mailed to students approximately eight weeks following the end of their intended graduation term.
Undergraduate Certificate Completion Form
Any student completing a certificate program, needs to indicate their intended term of completion to have their certificate awarded. This is a separate process from the graduation form, however undergraduate certificates need to be awarded with an undergraduate degree or after one has been previously awarded.

Commencement Ceremony
The ceremonies are an opportunity for students to share the excitement of their academic achievements with their family and friends, as well as with University faculty and staff. Commencement ceremonies are offered two times per year at the conclusion of fall and spring semesters. Students can choose to participate in one ceremony and graduate in another term.
Participation in commencement is not an indicator of degree completion. While graduation and commencement do often occur around the same time, there is a difference between the two:
Graduation: The conferring or awarding of an academic degree or diploma.
Commencement: A celebratory ceremony of academic accomplishments.
